Kaftans: A Look Worthy of Hollywood
Are you a fan of the Bravo series Southern Charm? Well it has become my guilty pleasure, and quite honestly the only television watching I partake in. The show has fueled two great loves, the city of Charleston and kaftans. And while others may watch for the drama of the young elite: for me, it’s purely to witness cast member, Patricia Altschul, in motion. You can usually find her sipping on a gin martini at 5pm, well-coiffed hair, and wearing elegant kaftans. I take note to her gracious living, her effortless style and confidence; while equally enjoying her witty one-liners, etiquette tips and her unsolicited motherly advice to her younger counterparts.
While taking on my new passion for kaftans, I was introduced by another kaftan lover to local artist, Carla Christoph who has a private label located in Houston. And Carla is no stranger to the show, as Patricia Altschul is seen wearing one of her creations on set (pictured to the left).
After our introduction, Carla invited me to her exquisite home. Instantly, without exchanging any words, I knew I was in the right place. Carla clearly loves kaftans to the fullest. Her home is a perfect reflection of her keen eye, love and ability of mixing colors and patterns into impeccable creations of wearable art. Her home clearly pays homage to the details of Morocco and her kaftan brand.
Carla has a wide array of colors and fabrics to mix and match for your ideal kaftan look. Otherwise you can find racks of ready-made options surely to cater to all personalities big and small. And according to Carla, it’s only for the confidant woman as it is truly a look that commands attention, respect and conversation. And once I found the kaftan for me (pictured to the right), I instantly felt lean, tall and most of all, glamorous. I purchased my kaftan with intentions of taking me to a beach vacation, a cocktail party, the hostess with the mostess, to even a black tie event. The options are truly endless. “One must own at least one in their wardrobe”, according to Carla Christoph. It’s a classic silhouette that will never go out of style, and well beyond a fad from a popular television series. As the style has been around for decades, but became more main-stream back in the 60’s by couture designers and Hollywood such as Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Lee Radzwill and the like.
Therefore, I encourage you to visit her website or check out her amazing collection in person. Both options will give exceptional results that will withstand the test of time. It flatters all body types and customized to fit each individual with personalized measurements that can be made in person or by your given measurements. She personally fits you to ensure a custom fit, with no two alike. If you mention that I sent you, Carla has generously offered a 15% discount valid until March 13, 2017,
